KSHARA IN AYURVEDA

Kshara is an alkaline Ayurvedic medicine, in powder, liquid and paste form. The medicine is in use since the time of Sushruta, that is for thousands of years.

Kshar means Shatan or destruction as it destroys unhealthy or impure tissue.Here it also implies the destruction or removal vitiated doshas (humor).kshara also having the meaning of hinsa or violence, purification of tissues”

Kshara is an extract of the ashes of different Ayurvedic herbs, can be given internally as well as externally in different disease conditions.

Kshara internally is given for remedy for worms, indigestion, kidney stones, skin diseases, and obesity. It is given to people to drink in a highly diluted form as per the physician's suggestion. Kshara in powder form is given in the treatment of flatulence with a gurgling sound, abdominal distension, constipation. It relieves abdominal colic pain,  helps in easy urination and is useful in spleen related disorders. It balances Vata and Kapha Dosha.

It can be used for a period of 2 – 3 months only. This medicine has to be taken strictly under medical supervision only. This medicine is best avoided in pregnant ladies and infants.

Externally Kshara is been used in the form of lepa (paste application) in conditions like hemorrhoids, warts etc. It is been practiced in Muniyal Ayurveda hospital successfully under utmost care and supervision of experts.
